Naturopathy is a holistic approach to health that encompasses natural and preventative medicine. It enhances the body’s innate healing processes to restore vitality, improve the immune system and prevent disease.

Modern clinical naturopathy uses scientific and traditional evidence in practice and can help with both acute and chronic conditions. The approach to address conditions varies and depends on each individual and their symptoms, which is determined during consultations. Treatments can include herbal and nutritional medicine, homeopathy, massage, hydrotherapy, flower essence therapy, iridology, dietary and lifestyle advice.

Naturopathy is non-invasive, gentle and suitable for all ages. It is a misconception that naturopathy is an alternative option that is chosen while forgoing western medical options. The truth is, naturopathy can absolutely be used alongside western medicine from general practitioners and pharmacists as a complete whole body approach to health.

There are 6 principles that are the foundation of naturopathy:

  1. First, do no harm
Naturopathic practitioners opt for the least invasive treatment options.

  2. Stimulate the healing power of nature
The body is able to heal itself. The goal is to stimulate this natural ability with improved diet and lifestyle choices.

  3. Identify and treat the cause whenever possible
Symptoms are usually indicators of an actual health issue. The mission is to find the root cause, as opposed to simply focusing on symptoms.

  4. Treat the whole person
You are more than what is causing you discomfort in your body at a specific moment. The physical and mental components of who we are as humans are connected. The focus is not on the disease itself but rather the whole being.

  5. Education
Clients are empowered to understand the entire process and take responsibility for their own health and wellbeing.

  6. Prevention
Prevention is better than a cure.

Common conditions that can improve with the assistance of a naturopath include but are not limited to:

  • Insomnia and other sleep issues

  • Nervous system conditions (ie. stress, anxiety, and depression)

  • Reproductive system issues (ie. PMS, fertility, menopause, PCOS)

  • Digestive complaints

  • Arthritis

  • Diabetes

  • Skin disorders

  • Respiratory disorders (ie. asthma)

  • The common cold, influenza and seasonal allergies

If there is something you are struggling with, or if you simply want to feel balanced and get more from your day-to-day life, naturopathy can help.
